Recognising Women-Led Change at Khajri Kudar Pond

On the occasion of Women’s Day, members of the Rani Laxmibai Samuha from Panna were honoured for their efforts in building sustainable livelihoods through fisheries at the restored Khajri Kudar Pond.

During the ceremony, Pardhi women and Self-Help Group members were recognised with certificates and awards by the MLA of Panna and the District Collector, acknowledging their efforts and growing role in embracing alternate livelihood that encourages protection, sustainable use of forest and natural resources.

The formation of the SHG and its work around the pond has been shaped through sustained engagement from Last Wilderness Foundation, which has worked closely with the women to build capacity, strengthen, collective ownership, and enable livelihood opportunities linked to conservation.

This recognition reflects not only the determination of the women involved but also the potential of long-term, community-centred approaches in creating pathways for both ecological stewardship and economic resilience.
