In an effort to create meaningful opportunities for children from the Pardhi community, Last Wilderness Foundation (LWF) mobilised and coordinated with Pardhi families living in and around Narmadapuram, enabling 25 children to participate in a month-long Summer Camp organised by the Narmadapuram Police Department.
The initiative encouraged children to step outside their familiar surroundings and engage in a structured learning environment where they could develop new skills, interact with peers, and build confidence. During the month-long camp, the participants took part in a variety of activities and also showcased their talents through cultural performances, demonstrating their enthusiasm and creativity.
The camp proved to be a valuable platform for the children’s holistic development. Through their participation, they developed greater self-confidence, improved communication skills, discipline, and leadership qualities. The experience also encouraged them to interact more confidently with others and strengthened their ability to participate in group activities.
A significant highlight of the programme was the encouragement extended by Shri Sai Krishna Thota, Superintendent of Police, Narmadapuram, who appreciated the children’s participation and achievements. He also expressed his commitment to supporting efforts to connect more Pardhi children with educational opportunities and to facilitate the documentation process for members of the Pardhi community, helping improve their access to essential government services and entitlements.
The initiative demonstrates the value of collaborative efforts between government institutions, communities, and civil society organisations. By creating inclusive spaces where children can learn, interact, and thrive, such programmes help build confidence, expand aspirations, and strengthen pathways towards education and social inclusion for historically underserved communities.
